American makes changes at DCA (Washington, DC) and LGA


American Airlines announced changed today to service at Washington Reagan National Airport in Arlington, VA (Washington, DC) and LaGuardia in New York.  The changes are the result of slot divestments that are part of the previously announced merger settlement American and US Airways made with the U.S. Department of Justice.  The merged airline must give up slots at DCA and LGA.  

US Airways and American Announce Merger

This morning it's official, American Airlines and US Airways are merging.  The two airlines announced earlier today both of their boards approved the plan.  The new airline will retain the American Airlines name and remain part of the oneworld® Alliance.  According to PR folks at American the combined airline will fly more than 6700 daily flights to 336 destinations and 56 countries.  (Links to Full Media Coverage below)
