Review: Hotel Moresco Venice, Italy

A short walk from the Piazzale Roma train station and not far from the Grand Canal in Venice is the Hotel Moresco.  This hotel is a quiet oasis in city bustling with tourism and commerce.  The Moresco gets five stars from the TAR team because of the service and attention to detail.  The staff here truly makes you feel welcome.

We checked into the Moresco after a six hour train trip from Monte Carlo.  After spending the day on Italian trains we were ready for a break.  Welcome to Hotel Moresco.  We walked in and were immediately greeted by a member of the hotel's staff who took our bags and showed us to the courtyard where we were offered a welcome glass of wine or Prosecco.  I asked for something local to the region and was given several options.  Moments later he returned with our drinks.  We relaxed while the hotel's staff prepared our checkin paperwork and our room.

Hotel Moresco has twenty three rooms.  Each of them unique.  After completing our welcome drinks we were escorted to our room by the front desk agent.  She took the time to show us all of the features of the room and made sure everything was to our liking.  We were in the Cart Driver's Room.  While a bit small, the room was elegantly decorated and well laid out.  The bathroom was modern and included a roomy walk in shower accented by color changing LED lights.

The room itself featured a king sized bed, closet and desk.  Each room featured air conditioning with controls.  As with many rooms in Europe, there is a slot by the door where your key must be placed for the AC to function.  This is a power saving feature found across Europe.  The room also featured a Nespresso espresso maker with a variety of flavor pods.  We were also greeted by a bottle of Prosecco on ice and two glasses!  This is what I call a welcome.

Hotel Moresco offers guests complimentary breakfast daily on the first floor.  The selection was good and included made to order eggs.  The first floor of the hotel features a small dining room, where breakfast is served, a library that includes a small bar and the outdoor courtyard.  In the evenings Moresco offers guests a complimentary buffet of light appetizers including a selection of hot and cold items.  Beer and wine is available for a few Euros.

The hotel staff was excellent when it came to dinner reservations and recommendations for things to do and see.  When my travels take me back to Venice we'll definitely be back at Hotel Moresco.
