Delta SkyClub Membership Changes
Delta is making changes to its membership fees for accessing Sky Club airport lounges. In an e-mail to Sky Club members and other frequent fliers Delta announced they are raising fees and restricting access in an effort to deal with complaints of overcrowding. I will admit, at peak times, and at hub airport Sky Clubs can be packed to standing room capacity.
Here are the changes:
- Effective immediately, membership price is $695 annually. (This is an increase from $450/year) This new membership will be called the Executive Membership.
- For current Sky Club members, who rarely need guest access, an Individual Membership will stay at the current rate of $450 and guests will gain access with the club member for $29/per person, per visit.
- Beginning May 1, 2014, all customers who receive complimentary Sky Club access as a benefit of their eligible credit or charge card (Delta American Express Reserve Card and American Express Platinum cards) will no longer receive complimentary guest access. Guests will cost $29/each per visit. The complimetary lounge access previously included two free guests.
It does not appear Delta is making any changes to their food or beverage options. The rate increase is solely to decrease the crowds inside of the clubs.
